Splinters
Nude Self-Portrait Photography: April 2024, Morelos, Mexico
I was trying to create something meaningful from this work, but I've come up empty. To be honest, I'm not very satisfied with most of these shots. Maybe there are two that I really love, but the rest are pretty med. I've been doing nude self-portraits for a while, but this time, I got some nasty splinters in my feet. That's the nature of doing nude self-portraits in... well, nature (hahhhh). One splinter was so deep I couldn't get it out until I returned to the States. But that's how it is; it makes the experience more real, at least for me.
I was aiming for some new poses, but the pain was getting to me. My wireless trigger malfunctioned, which slowed down my process. I lost the lighting I was aiming for, so I decided to wrap it up. I tried taking some photos in el campo, but those didn’t turn out the way I wanted either. I even forgot to take off my glasses in some of the shots.
In the end, these really served as practice. At least I've scouted the areas and will try again next time.
I also wanted to say that this is the first time I've shared my most recent nature nude self portraits as a bigger series. I've only shown one or two images, sometimes cropped, but usually never the bigger series. Aside from censorship on instagram, I was also just nervous to share more in past. But I've become more comfortable in sharing my nude self portrait work, this is what I've always been doing.
I've got so much from previous years (dating back to 2016) that I haven't shared fully. I do plan on sharing in some way in the future.
Anyways thanks for viewing/reading! Let me know what you think, I am really curious about what people think about my work!
